1. We started with a short Hindi song clip from "Taare zamin pe" 2. What do you think culture means? Discussion where students brought up topics like language, food, celebrations/festivals, religion, movies/music, social beliefs, clothes, sports, arts 3. On these topics, how does our Indian culture differ from that of your American friends – didn’t get enough time for this discussion - will be continued later. 4. Made 3 teams and asked them to talk about each one of these things and how they different for Indian and western culture 5. Kids did good job on coming up with differences ===========================

Few kids have nut/egg allergy in the class. Please also pack a water bottle with your child’s snack to minimize class interruptions. • Every week child will be sent a short homework assignment – it would be communicated through Class website by Wed of the each week. • Class Review and Home assignments will be communicated via Class 3D site can be accessed from the gurukul main home page http://www.gurukul-wa.org/default.aspx • Please supervise and help child complete homework assignment for the week. It should be less than 30 min/week. Class will, maintain a star chart. After a child collects 5 stars, he/she would be rewarded a small prize. Child will miss the opportunity to earn a star for incomplete homework. So, please make sure you child completes homework with minimum or no mistakes, you don’t want your child to feel bad or left behind in the class. And PLEASE do NOT complete child’s assignment on his/her behalf – we can tell Volunteers: Thanks to Arya’s Mom for staying back and volunteering in the class today!!
