Hindi
 
1) Revised all the maatras by asking kids to come up with one word from each matraas. They came up with following words.
खाना, तितली, गुलाबी, आलू, सेब, एक, तैरना, सोना, कौआ, बंदर or बन्दर,नमः, पृथ्वी,ऋषि...etc
2) Revised how masculine words in Hindi end with आ ki matraa and feminine words in Hindi end with ई ki matraa and how verb and adjective changes according to masculine and feminine words
 
3) Explained singular and plural forms.

The masculine words ending with आ ki matraa change to ए ki matraa in their plural form.
लड़का    लड़के
जूता   जूते
दरवाज़ा   दरवाज़े

The feminine words ending with ई ki matraa change to an ending of याँ . Also the ई ki matraa changes to इ matraa.
लड़की   लडकियाँ
खिड़की   खिड़कियाँ
सहेली   सहेलियाँ
We also explained how the verbs change in the plural form for the maculine and feminine.
Eg:
लड़का खाता है     लड़के खाते हैं
लड़की खाती है     लडकियाँ खाती हैं

Today we learnt the following
·Infinitive with the VERB

oKHA : Verb (eat) ; Khana = Kha + na = To eat
oNaach: Dance; Naachna = naach + na = To dance and so on.
 
·Want : Chaahiye (this form == need )
oAapko kya chaahiye? (What do you need? )
oMujhe/Isko/Ukso/Aapko/Inko / Unko <noun> chaahiye
§ Nouns : Pencil, seb, kitaab….
·Want to <do>:
oAapko kya karna hai? Aapko kya chaahiye ? (Can still be used)
oMujhe khelna hai. Mujhe khaana hai…
oIsko khelna hai, unko nahaana ha…
 
Spoken HINDI HOMEWORK - Please complete the homework sheet that was sent home with the students.
Also, everyone did a great job dressing up for Spirit day. It was good to see everyone taking a lot of effort to participate in traditional dress day.You can check out attached pictures. Students were asked to come up front and talk about the traditional dress they had worn and what part of India they were from. Everyone did an excellent job!!

Culture
In culture we talked about Foods Of India.
We talked about we have different regions in India and different foods.
In southern India coconut, IDli, Rice are famous.
In Northern India Roti, Dhappati ,Parandha are famous.
In eastern India IN bangal fish and rice are famous.
 
we got one activity sheet for culture having diffrent dal (lentils) and spices on it. We covered in the class names of them.
Homework
In culture activity sheet stick the same seed you can on the culture activity paper like if you see Rajma on the paper stick some Rajma on it.

Class 3C - Class Review Mar 11

Hindi

1) We started our class by singing prayer and क to ज्ञ alphabet song.
2) Revised all the maatras and asked them to write following words.
           बंदर or बन्दर,  हिंदी or हिन्दी,   झंडा or  झण्डा , पाँच, माँ, नमः, छः, पृथ्वी, वृक्ष
3) Explained main rules for masculine and feminine words and talked about some exceptions by referring page 134.
 
Masculine:
Many masculine words in Hindi end with आ ki matraa.
लड़का, जूता, दरवाज़ा, तारा, खिलौना
 
Feminine:
Many feminine words in Hindi end with ई ki matraa 

लड़की, खिड़की, सहेली, तितली, चाबी  .
 
4) Explained how verb changes according to masculine and feminine words.
e.g. लड़का खाता है ,  लड़की खाती है  .......etc. 

Spoken Hindi.

We played a word bingo game and students were asked to form sentences each time they got a combination of the picture and the word on their bingo sheets. Everybody did a great job with the game and there were some creative sentences that were put together.
 
HOMEWORK: - Continue to revise the all new contructs, vocabulary that we have learned so far. Parents, please leveragae the flash cards to practice spoken hindi with you your kids on a regular basis.
 
Spoken HINDI homework sheet was handed out to each student.

Culture
 
1) In culture our we played turtle and hare game by using gestures.
2) Kids learnt about Holi.They were given blank sheets that they could hang at their front and then they put "colors" using crayons on each other's sheets. Kids had fun.

Hindi
 
1) We revised all the consonants from क to ज्ञ and श्र.
2) We revised 'Aa' ki matra
3) We learnt इ and ई ki maatra today and taught them how to write it and how to pronounce it and    explained them इ ki maatra we put before the alphabet and ई ki maatra we put after the alphabet
  e.g कि खि गि... etc for  इ  ki maatra
        की खी गी... etc for  ई ki maatra
 
4) We asked them to translate and write following words and sentences in hindi
 Lamp - दिया, Saturday- शनिवार 
Heart- दिल Grandma- दादी
1) दादी आई 2) दादी पपीता लाई 3) निकिता खीर खा
5) We asked them to write few words like पिता and पीता and explained difference between two matras.
 
Spoken Hindi
 
1) We  revised everything we had covered so far in spoken Hindi over last 3 weeks
 2) We introduced following words and made some sentences using these and previous words.
   ऊपर,  नीचे
   आगे, पीछे
   अंदर, बाहर
    इधर, उधर
Culture
 
We talked about different beliefs why we celebrate navratri and dashara  or vijay dashmi.
We watched video of mahishasur story and another video or maa durga and kali and shumbh demon.
We talked about we celebrate dushara ramji killed ravan.  And we shared the story of maa sati and shivaji.

Class3C Oct 02 Class review
Hindi
 
1) We revised all the consonants from क to ज्ञ and श्र.
2) We revised 'Aa' ki matra by asking them to translate and write following paragraph in Hindi. Please check it out in their notebook.
 
There was a boy and his name was Amar. Amar used to sing a song. Amar used to eat almond and honey. Amar used to do mischief. Amar used to climb on roof.
 
3) We made three reading groups and asked them to read poem(page 17) from folder and translate it in English.
We were happy to see them writing and reading hindi sentences. All kids were trying their best and doing good. Thanks for asking your child to do the homework and please keep doing it. It really helps.  Next week we are going to learn इ and ई ki matra.

1) Simple respectful commands E.g. बैठिए, खड़े हो जाइए, किताब खोलिये
2) Taught vocabulary for various objects around the classroom (मेज़, कुर्सी, किताब, कागज़, दरवाज़ा).

Geetika ji explained about Mahatma Gandhi yesterday and his philosophy/principles. Please check attached document for reference. Kids made monkey puppet in activity.

Sept 25 - Class 3C Review
Hindi
 
1) We revised all the consonants from क to ज्ञ and श्र. We continued learning the Hindi alphabet song from Gurukul C.D.( 7th song), repetition is the key to remember all the alphabets. so please do at home also
2) We taught 'Aa' ki matra and asked them to write all the alphabets using  'Aa' ki matra.
     e.g. का खा गा घा
3)  We asked them to translate and write following sentences in Hindi. Please check it out in their notebook.
      1) Ram come here - राम इधर आ
      2) Ram go home - राम घर जा
      3) Raj go there  राज उधर जा
      4) Amar eat four carrots - अमर चार गाजर खा
      5) Aman do your work -अमन अपना काम कर
      6) Ajay sing a song - अजय गाना गा
      7) Abhay eat fruit - अभय फल खा
      8) Maya eat tomato - माया टमाटर खा

3) Haa.n  and Nahii.n ( yes / no) e.g Kya yah bhaiya hai? haa.n yah bhaiyaa hai.
4) Showed picture of animals to the class and asked Kya yah kutta hai? naahi yeh sher hai etc....

Geetika ji explained What is history? *study of past.
1) we learn about people who lived a long time ago. How do we know when and where early people lived?  Archaeologists study the material they left behind. They studied their paintings. on that basis they told in past people hunt animals for their food and they were using cloths from animal's skin.
2)World wide change came in 10000 B.C.
 *people started planting fruits.* building houses and community.*started growing crops.
3)What does A.D. (Anno Domini ) and B. C.(Before Christ) means
4) Indus valley civilization ,
 Archaeologists found two ancient city *Mohenjo-Daro  and Harappa
*sewer system started that time.
Life of Indus people - People were great artists. they use copper and bronze to make tools., pots and pans. Bones and ivory for ornament
*trading system started that time.
They were using animals,ox carts.

Sept 18 Class 3C Review
Hindi
 
We revised following things already covered in the last year:
 
1) All the vowels from अ to अः'
2) All the consonants from क to ज्ञ and श्र
3) One word starting with each consonant. Everyone got a chance to come up with one or two words.
4) We revised without matra words. We asked them to translate following words and write those in Hindi.e.g. fruit, one, lotus, sister, duck, peas

1) Namaste, Aaap kaise hain? Main theek hoon. For elders Namaste ji, Namaste dadaji
2) Mera naam-- hai? Aapka naam kya hai?.
3) Shubh Prabhat, Shubh ratri, Dhanyavaad.
4) Veh ladki/ladka hai. Haan, Naahi. Kripaya
5) Aap kaisi hain? Main achcha/achchi hoon.
 
Culture
 
1) In cultural hour Geetika ji talked about What is Gurukul? Guru (teacher) + kul (home and family)
   Life at gurukul and explained story of Eklavya.
2) We asked kids what is culture? kids explained it in their own words
3) We talked about other names of  India e.g India, Bharat, Hindustan,Jammu dweep,Yin du, Aryavart
4) Sanjana told us story about Bharat. How did India get the name Bharat?
5) Kids got to do two activities. please check it out in your child's bag.

Many thanks to Niru ji ( Aarushi's Mom) for being Lead parent volunteer for class 3C and Deepak Bharadwaj ( Rohan's Dad) for helping out in the class. For those who have already signed up as parent volunteer, thank you for signing up! Others, please do sign up to be a parent volunteer. Lead parent volunteer for our class is Nirushma Sahai(Aarushi's Mom). If you have any questions you can contact her and us.
 
Note that some kids are allergic to peanuts, eggs, meat and seafood. So please don't send snacks which contain these items. Snacks should be dry and no juice please.
 
Please ensure that your kid comes to the class on time to ensure that they don't miss anything, to minimize disturbance to the entire class and to avoid getting a tardy mark on their attendance sheet.
 
Please send the following school supplies with your child in their bag with the Gurukul binder:This will greatly help to increase our productivity in class.

Special Programs-
1.Special Student(vishesh Vidharthi)  Your official volunteering day will be your child’s show and tell turn.  Please allow the child to pick a small item like a toy or family picture that they are passionate about to present to the class and say 4-5 sentences in Hindi.It is to help them overcome their shyness and become more comfortable with Hindi conversation.
The student need to address their fellow students for about 3-4 minutes on any topic they want. . Minimum expectations should be:-·  Introduce themselves –  मेरा नाम ______ है।
                                                                                             मैं भारत में _________ से हूँ।.
                                                          मेरे परिवार में माँ, पिताजी,…… हैं।  etc
