Class Summary
Namaste Parents,

Hindi:
I basically gave them a dictation of 20 words which were:
कछुआ अंदर बंदर कमरा साबुन शाम सुबह हूँ माँ कुछ पृथ्वी कबूतर सैनिक सेना भैया कौआ कौन सोना सौ .

The common mistakes were in ए, ऐ, ओ and औ ki matraas. So I revised that again.
We did a quick revision of opposites and singular and plurals.

Spoken Hindi:
Vrushali did time again. She revised whatever was taught last week. She also introduced quarter to 3:00( paune theen ) and quarter past 3:00( savaa theen).

Class Summary 25th march
Namaste Parents,

Hindi:
As the syllabus is over, I basically did revision.
I gave them a topic- बंदर. They had to write a pragrap on it. The kids came up with sentences like:
बंदर जंगले में रहता है
बंदर का रंग भूरा है
बंदर शैतान है
बंदर पर हँसना नहीं
बंदर मस्ती करता है
बंदर पेड़ पर चढ़ता है etc.
The kids came up with their own sentences and wrote. I corrected the common mistkes made by the kids.

Spoken Hindi:
today we covered telling time. The lesson plan was somewhat elaborate for 3A class so here is what Vrushali did:
Identifying time of the day such as subah, dopahar, shaam and raat.
Then telling time such as Subah ke nau baje, raat ke dus baje. She  incorporated morning rountines which the kids have learnt in the past. For eg. Subah ke 8 baje naashta karna etc. Focusing on simple sentence construction and practicing them is recommended.
She  also introduced the concept of
1) 10 minutes past 7, 20 minutes past 1, ( the emphasis is on "baj kar" saat baj kar dus minute)
2) 5 minutes to 1PM, 10 minutes to 2PM (the emphasis is on "bajne mein", eg. ek bajne mein 5 minutes hai, do bajne mein dus minute hai).
3) Difference between Dedh (1:3) and Dhai (2:30)

She stopped at this as some students were struggling to make sentences by translating it directly from English. Its simpler to practice this by repetition and colloquial use rather than direct English to Hindi translation. Parents to practice these above mentioned concepts with the kids.
She will be covering "sava" and "paune" (quarter to and quarter past) concepts next week.
Homework for spoken involves revision of time flashcards and writing a para on "friend" in Hindi.

Class Summary
Hindi:
I revised singular and plural again. I explained that masculine words that end with any matraa other than आ ki matraa dont change in plural form egs:
भाई भालू आदमी  etc.
We did how describing words(adjectives) change in the plural form.  Many adjectives in hindi end with आ, and they change according to the gender of the noun they describe.Egs:

लड़का बड़ा है            दो लड़के बड़े हैं
लड़की बड़ी है            दो लडकियां बड़ी हैं

एक केला मीठा है      दो केले मीठे हैं
चाबी बड़ी है              दो चाबियाँ बड़ी हैं

There are adjectives like साफ़ सुंदर which dont end with आ ki matraa and they remain as it is For eg:

लड़का साफ़ है
लडकियां  सुंदर  हैं
लड़के साफ़ हैं

If you have any doubts, go through pages 141-144 in the workbook.

I also finished अ: ki matraa in class. We did the pages 127-129 in class.

Spoken Hindi:
Spoken hindi was basically a revison of waht has already been covered. We divided the class into stations and played a Bingo game. The kids had to basically pick up 2 cards and form sentences using those two cards. The kids really did a good job.

Culture:
The culture topic was Holi. Shalini talked about how holi is celebrated in India. Holi is the festival of colors. She showed a few slides on holi and how it is played. She talked about the various sweets that are made for holi.
Shalini aso talked about why bonfires are lit on the eve of holi. She talked aboout Hiranyakashipu and Prahlad.
