Homework: First week of school
1. If your child was at Gurukul last year, please complete the Summer Workbook if not already done so. I will be collecting the workbooks next week and returning them after verifying completion. Please make sure the workbooks have student full name written on cover page.
2. Print and complete attached homework on Greetings and Introductions. For the translate English to Hindi portion it is fine to use English script.
3. Get a pencil box from next time with the following: 2 Pencils, Eraser, Some crayons, Scissor, Glue Stick, 2 small ziploc bags. Note that course binders will be given to students in 2 weeks which they also need to bring to class every week.

-  We reviewed Swars (vowels) and breezed through some domestic and wild animals.  This was there third week revising Swar (A, Aa....) and I have decided to test them on Swars only next Sunday Oct. 9th.   
Spoken
- We learnt vocabulary for various objects around the classroom.
- Covered simple respectful commands that will be used throughout the year in the classroom.
 Culture- Today we learnt about Mahatma Gandhi.
 
Homework:
- Hindi:   Write all Swars with words like A....se Anaar, Aa.....se Aam, etc. in their composition notebooks.  Please help them prepare for test on Oct. 9th.

Hindi:  PLEASE REVISE THE VYANJANS TA TO NA for the test this Sunday  3/18.  They will be given the match the following sheets where they have to match the vyanjan with the respective picture.  Please help them review the notes to perform better in the test. Hindi: Pages 69 and 70 ---practice of all the vyanjans in sequence.  Pages 78 to 81 --match the following of without matra words.  These two exercises are very important for the test.   Spoken: For the Spoken Hindi final evaluation (on May 20), we will be following a similar format as what we used for the mid-term evaluation back in January.  A significant portion of the evaluation will involve showing videos of pre-recorded conversations to the kids, and asking the kids to either translate the sentences to English, or answer questions about the videos in Hindi.  The videos that we will be using for the final evaluation are now ready, and are available on YouTube here:Video:  “Siddharth” -- http://youtu.be/nx6dU1uORgkVideo:  “Mother’s Day”  -- http://youtu.be/1dBZQslYsQ0Please show these videos at home and help the kids to understand what is being said in the videos.  Also, in case you’re not clear on what exactly is being said in the video, I have attached a document which contains the sentences being spoken.  Culture:  Prepare the speech in Hindi and also please forward your character's picture to Manojji at manojchowdhary@hotmail.com   so that he can make a power point presentation for the annual day.
