Namaste Parents!
Reshma (Hindi), Apurva (Spoken Hindi) and Sonia (Culture) welcome you all to the Gurukul community and Class 2E. We are really excited to work with your child. Our class 2E has 16 enthusiastic students and we can tell they are as motivated as we are to take this journey of fun and learning together.
We would appreciate if you take time off to review information here as there are certain important points you may like to take note of for future purposes.
Updates/ Assignments: As you know, like last year, the class assignments and updates will be available here ( http://www.gurukul-wa.org/2011/classes/2E/default.aspxwill). In addition to this, any other news/activities we like to share with you will be posted here for your information. Henceforth for all practical purposes your reference point for this class is this page.
Homework assignment: A short homework assignment will be communicated by latest Wednesday of each week. Please supervise and help the child complete the homework assignment. It should be less than 30 min/week. To motivate the students we have a star chart - after every five well -done homework, she/he will earn a prize :)
Attendance: Drop off time is 10:50am. The class begins at 11:00 am and the child will be marked tardy any later than that. 70% attendance is required for the next year enrollment.
Snack: Please pack light non-messy nut-free dry snack. Few kids have peanuts/egg allergies in the class. Also pl. send a bottle of water with your child’s snack to minimize class interruptions.
Volunteering :Anika's mom Malini has volunteered to be our room parent. Thank you Malini !We really appreciate your time and effort. Thank you to all those who have already signed up for volunteering. However, like Malini mentioned in class, we need more parent volunteers to come forward and help us. Your help in the class will be much appreciated:) . Pl get in touch with Malini for the same.
Class Supplies: Pl. ensure the child gets his/her own class supplies that includes 2 pencils, eraser, crayons, scissor, glue stick, 2 small ziploc bags. The course binders, covering the year’s curriculum, will be given to students in the next two weeks. This needs to be brought to class every week.
Class on Sep 18, 2011- Review. 1) Right after the parent orientation, we began with revising our acquired knowledge in Grade1. A quick review of the summer workbook was done.
2)The students were reminded of their purpose in Gurukul. In that context, we touched upon concepts like ''Gurukul" and "Culture". The students were read aloud the legendary story of Eklavya. Unfortunately due to lack of internet access in the classroom, we were not able to view a You tube video of the narration of the story. Here is a link to the same http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QNVtWp9E0E&feature=youtube_gdata_player Your child will really enjoy watching it!
3)To commence a new academic year, we thought the best way to start was to do a craft project of Lord Ganesha.
4) The students had a fun circle time where they got to hone their speaking skills. It was a delightful conversational session where they introduced themselves and shared the fun activities they during the summer break. They were also gently reminded to practice at home their conversational skills. J
Homework Assignment 1.If your child was at Gurukul last year, please ensure the child completes the Summer Workbook, if not already done so. The workbook has to be turned in next week. Please make sure the workbook has student's full name written on the cover page. It will be returned to the child after corrections.
2.Spoken Hindi assignment - Greetings and Introductions. Pl. find attached a copy of the same . Pl. note for the section "Translate English to Hindi" it is fine if your child wants to use the Roman script. For instance “How are you?” can be written as “Aap kaise hai.n?”
3. Culture assignment To make it easier/ speedier for the child to complete the work in a short time, the child can put his thoughts in bullet points. |
