Spoken
We played the game of dumb charades with new pictures and actions.
Culture
Given the nice weather, the class ventured out and practiced for the annual day. Boards were given out to the students to prepare their presentations. | | | | | | | Hindi
We learned 4 new letters y, r, v and s along with some simple words. We also talked about the simplicity of reading Hindi words once they know the sounds of letters as compared to English which has multiple sounds for some letters.
Spoken
The kids were divided into two teams and played the game of dumb charades. One team came up with sentences for the other team which acted it out and had their team guess it.
Culture
We practiced for the annual function, the songs, skit and poems. It is great to see the expressions and passion these kids have for the practice Please continue the practice at home, there will be some follow ups from Jinesh for the song lyrics and the music.
Today we had a class photograph taken for the year book. All the kids were beautifully dressed in Indian dresses. | | | | | | | Today's class was a lot of fun.
Thanks a lot to Sandeep ji for volunteering in the classroom. Manish was not able to come today and had sent me a note yesterday. Sandeepji taught the kids 3 new letters - "ba", "bha" and "ma".
Vrushali taught the kids to start utilizing all the materials covered in the class throughout the year well. Revised spoken hindi, we had some fun games in the class and the kids were able to practice conversation really well. They were able to speak sentences well. All of them shared the fun things they did during the spring break.
Thanks to all the parent volunteers in the class today. For the remaining weeks, I would greatly appreciate at least 3 parent volunteers be available to work one on one with the kids for annual day practice. With good focus these brilliant kids can learn very quickly. I was amazed at how much some of the kids had practiced and prepared at home and come to the class.
I am sorry, I do not remember the names of all the parents who have been helping in the class. Rimjhim's parents had come to the class today to help. Both of them helped with the classroom today.
Kids had a blast with various songs and poems.
I did get responses from some parents about their kids preferences. I will send a separate email with the final tally of songs, poem and skit. I practiced the skit with the kids to recite it once in the class. It felt to be slightly long, but they loved it. They all were laughing with it and having a nice time. I will appreciate if the parents test the timing in seconds it takes for their kids to say their dialogue. Since there is not too much back and forth, it is a very simple play for you to time them.
Kids who recited poems and songs today also loved it. They were enjoying the most. The kids finished practicing the poems a few times and joined the other kids with saare jahan se achha song. This was a lot of fun.
I have changed the end of the class from singing "Jana gana mana" to "saare Jahaan se acha" song. This will also help the kids memorize the song for annual day and simplify annual day practice. If the kids learn that song quickly, I will try the next song Kadam Kadam Badhaaye Jaa as well.
