Annual Day
Our class is trying to plan two performances for Annual Day. One will be a song (Laka.Dii kii kaaTHii), and the other will be a skit. We could use some help with ideas for the skit. We’re looking for a fun little story that the kids can act out … it needs to involve about 10 different characters. Even if it’s in English, it’s fine … we’re happy to translate it into Hindi ourselves. Please think about it, and if you have any ideas, let us know!
Reading Logs
Several kids have reached the Yogya level (30 minutes) on their reading logs, and they received a small prize. Don’t forget to spend some time reading Hindi or watching Hindi videos at home during the week. And please send the Reading Log with your child to Gurukul each Sunday. The Gurukul Library (located in the office) has a wonderful selection of beginner Hindi books, so definitely check it out if you’re looking for material to take home. And if you come across a good book, please let everyone know so we can look for the same book … just send email to
gc1b@gurukul-wa.org to share a message with all 1B parents.
Culture
We played a little game of Holi in class (with markers instead of actual powder), and started talking about ideas for our Annual Day performance. If any parents would like to help out with the Annual Day performances, the kids would absolutely love it!
Hindi
In Hindi this week, we started with a quiz on some of the mid-term portions (fruits, animals, etc.). Some kids have forgotten these - please revise with them. A quick refresher will ensure they don't completely forget it before the final evaluations. We also covered the the letter ऋ (as in Rishi). Children wrote the letter in their notebooks 15 times. Please complete the homework on pg. 52.
Homework: Please have the kids practice writing letter ऋ (R) on page 52 in the binder.
Spoken Hindi
We played a little game of Bingo in Hindi to help the kids review their spoken Hindi vocabulary and phrases. I also read them a story from “Sonu’s stories”.
Homework: Complete this fun crossword puzzle.
