They also took home a map of India which requires connecting dots & numbers to comlete the map. Please take time to do this activity at home and help the child to mark on map the part of India to which you belong. Before I share the review of today's class here are few important points which I would like to bring to your attention.
•Mid term evaluation will be happening sometime after second week of January. The final dates will be announced soon. Attached is the list of topics which your child is expected to prepare. In Hindi we are only left with fruits and vegetables, rest all has been covered. •It is suggested to take this evaluation seriously. I would advise parents to be involved in preparing their child at home. The questions will be set by Hindi Committe and the same test will be used across the board for the same level •We are heading into holiday season, I know many of you are travelling to India and have been asking for advise on how to help your child when they are absent. I have few suggestions for parents which are highly recommend wether you are travelling to India or somewhere else or just staying home for the season. ◦Since you will be spending a lot of time as a family, please make concious effort to converse in Hindi. Having a routine helps a great deal in re-inforcing language learning. You could have special 'Hindi talk time' at a certain hour of the day either while having dinner, morning routine acitivites or playing board games. ◦Be creative, form your own games. Kids learn the most when they enjoy, so incorporate it in some form of activity rather than just giving in the form of instructions. ◦If travelling, keep a copy or make a note of all the topics covered so far in the class and use long flight time to talk around those topics with them. ◦In India don't miss an opportunity like travelling or shopping to show them fruits ,vegetables, dresses or handicrafts pertaining to the place you are visiting. Buy Hindi story books, dvds, toys, dolls or any object that you think has an Indian feel to it. It helps them stay connected. ◦If you are home during the winters use Gurukul library as your resource. There are great books and movies that your child would love to read and watch with you. ◦Most important thing is to BE INVOLVED ! in any way you like and don't forget to ENJOY! Other important updates •As you know that our culture teacher Mrs. Anshu is travelling to India and there is no substitute teacher assigned from the office. For the whole month of December I would need more parent involvement . Please come and help!!! •Write back to me if you are willing to help. •Today there were many kids without water bottles. Its a long walk to the water fountain, so please always send the water bottle. •If there are any lose sheets in your childs bag or folder, always punch them and file it in their folder. Now a quick review of today There were no new topics introduced in culture and spoken. It was mainly revision and in Hindi we started vocabulary on birds, new poem - Hathi raja and read the story 'chatpat machli' from the library. HOMEWORK - page 29 from the folder
Visheh Vidhyarhi: Rishika brought a handcrafted wooden box with a Taj Mahal magnet in it. I told them the story of Shah jahan and Mumtaz and why and where it was built. I think it was a very nice thing to share it with the class. It is Raghav's turn to be bring something next time.
Parent Volunteers: Many thanks to Ria's dad and Rishi's Mom for the help !!
Happy thanks giving to all !!!

- on behalf of Class 1A Teachers. | | | | | Shubh Prabhaat & Namaskar Parents !
For some Spring Break was over last week and for some of us this has been our busy Spring Break week with outings, unending activities and kids at home who will not nap !! My spring break starts next week when the kids are in school...at least that's what I'd like to think ;-)
Anyways, we are coming to our Gurukul year end soon. Most of our class activities from now on will focus on revising the curriculum and preparing for the Annual Day Performances. That's pretty much what we did in this past class. We will soon send out email to parents requesting their help & role for Annual Day Preparations.
Two Very important Announcements:
1. Please be in the class by 11am. Last class out of 17 kids present there were only 7 kids who arrived on time.. 10 kids were tardy!!. We lost time in the morning settling down and thus missed having presentations by the Vishesh Vidhyarthis during the circle time.. Please be on time.
2. Please continue reading & conversing with your child and filling in the log. As the Reading Program is coming to an end this month the kids have awards/ certificate awaiting them when they complete a target of 240 minutes by next class. Lots of kids have made tremendous progress and they feel very proud showing off their reading log.
CLASS REVIEW:
Hindi: The class learnt the next new vowels ' ए ' & ' ऐ '.
Spoken Hindi: The kids played game of Snakes & ladders in three groups working on & reviewing their Hindi speaking skills. From now on we will revise our Spoken Hindi Curriculum for remaining classes.
Culture: During our culture time we started our preparations for Annual Day Performance.
Vishesh Vidhyarthi: We missed our Vishesh Vidhyarthi presentations due to lack of time and other activities. Therefore, we will have three Vishesh Vidyarthi Presentations for April 22nd Class - Divij, Kshiraj, and Aarna. Parents please make a note of this and as Vishesh Vidhyarthis they can bring anything in context with India to share with their class, could be a handicraft item, a toy, a book, a dress etc. Please help the child to prepare minimum four lines to say in front of the class. We will be doing this during our circle time.
Volunteers: Many thanks to Jeetendra ( Anjali's Father) for all his help in the class.
HOMEWORK:
Hindi: Finish writing ए & ऐ in work sheet in folder. And Practice writing each vowel 5 times.
Spoken: Please revise previous lessons at home as that is what we shall be doing in the class. I am attaching a link to the game we played in class and maybe at home you can play this to make Hindi fun for your child. April 8 Snakes and ladders review game
Please remember no Gurukul on April 15th. Its Spring Break !!
See you all on April 22nd...
