4/11 - Class Review
We reviewed most of the material of class 4B as well as some of the material of previous classes. I have asked kids to do lot of practice this week as I am planning to take 3 tests (language, vocabulary and coversation) starting from April 25th. These tests will determine if an individual is ready to move to the next level.

In culture section, we talked about Annual Day which is coming on May 23rd. There are some great ideas floating around (singing 3 Idiod song, couple of boards on culture topics, Hindi Quizz etc) so I would request parents to join for first 30 minutes in next class to do some more brainstorming.

Anyway, it was a nail biting competition. Thanks to teachers (Abha, Anamika and Tanu) and engergetic kids!

Chitra Subramanian was a student of Carnatic music for several years in her hometown in Bombay, India.  She has given numerous performances both in Carnatic music as well as popular music, the latter being part of various Bollywood bands.  She now lives in Kirkland, Washington and participates in the Northwest Thyagaraaja festivals regularly.

Kids came up with great ideas and enjoyed working in teams and expressing their ideas.

We started class with brief introduction of all students and teachers. Then we jumped directly to gauge the Hindi Reading skills and started reading and understanding meaning of first chapter in Hindi Book (Sun le Vinati Hey Bhagavan).

During the spoken Hindi session, we performed a chain drill where each child said 'Namaste, mera naam ... hai' to the other. The two main sentences the children heard today are:
1. Mera naam ... hai.

Please practice these sentences with your children at home. We will continue to do more in the spoken Hindi sessions in the subsequent classes.

In the culture session, we had a good dialog on understanding the meaning of culture. We talked about different aspects of Indian Culture and started an excercise to understand what is one thing which each of the student like and dislike about Indian and American cutlure.
